Review-Electropolishing of Additive Manufactured Metal Parts

Summary: Metal additive manufacturing (AM) technologies have advanced rapidly in recent years, but the poor surface finish of AM parts remains a challenge. This study reviews the literature on electropolishing as a potential solution for improving the surface quality of AM parts. It also provides a brief overview of the origin and consequences of surface properties of AM parts, evaluates other available post-treatment technologies, and discusses the challenges and potential countermeasures in industrial application of electropolishing for AM parts.
