Effect of Acicular Ferrite and Bainite in API X70 Steel Obtained After Applying a Heat Treatment on Corrosion and Cracking Behaviour

L. R. Jacobo et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effect of heat treatment on the corrosion resistance and stress corrosion cracking susceptibility of X70 steel by altering the microstructure. Heat treatment improved the corrosion resistance of X70 steel but decreased its resistance to stress corrosion cracking. The microstructure of the steel significantly influenced its corrosion and cracking properties.

Effect of Cold-Rolling on Hydrogen Diffusion and Trapping in X70 Pipeline Steel

Alen Thomas et al.

Summary: The study indicates that with an increase in grain misorientation, the permeability and effective diffusion coefficient of the steel decrease, while total and irreversible trapping sites increase. The changes in hydrogen diffusion intensity within the microstructure show that deformed grains are the easiest path for hydrogen diffusion.

Sensitivity of mechanical properties of pipeline steels to microalloying additions and structural characteristics

Tonye Alaso Jack et al.

Summary: This study assesses the effect of microalloying additions and thermomechanical processing on the mechanical properties of four pipeline steels, indicating that small differences in microstructure and texture resulted in a considerable reduction in strength and low temperature impact toughness. The results illustrate the complex interaction between thermomechanical processing and microalloying additions which lead to differences in microstructure, texture and subsequently, the mechanical properties of steels.
