Local formability of medium-Mn steel

Fuhui Shen et al.

Summary: Global formability and local formability are critical in different metal forming processes. The study compared the local and global formability of medium-Mn steel (MMnS) and dual-phase DP1000 steel, finding that MMnS has better global formability but worse local formability than DP1000 steel. Additionally, the research highlights the importance of considering local formability when assessing the potential application of new AHSS in the automotive industry.

Stress-state dependency of ductile fracture in an extruded magnesium alloy and its underlying mechanisms

Fei-Fan Li et al.

Summary: A comprehensive investigation is conducted on the ductile fracture of an extruded magnesium alloy at various stress states. The study finds that the fracture strain of the magnesium alloy varies with different stress triaxialities and the fracture mechanisms are influenced by second phase particles and deformation twins.

New ductile fracture model for fracture prediction ranging from negative to high stress triaxiality

Zengli Peng et al.

Summary: In this study, a new uncoupled ductile fracture model is established in the stress space by considering key factors affecting the initiation of ductile fracture. The proposed model is validated through experimental tests and compared with four typical ductile fracture criteria, showing good stability and accuracy in predicting fracture strain, especially in high stress triaxiality range. The asymmetry of the fracture locus and the realistic stress space are also discussed at the end.

An analysis of Lode effects in ductile failure

M. E. Torki et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of the third stress invariant in ductile failure of porous materials, using an isotropic multi-surface model to analyze the yielding behavior and failure characteristics. It is found that failure typically occurs after the transition to inhomogeneous yielding and strongly depends on the Lode parameter.
