Lie symmetry analysis for obtaining the abundant exact solutions, optimal system and dynamics of solitons for a higher-dimensional Fokas equation

Sachin Kumar et al.

Summary: The article introduces a method to obtain more exact solutions of the (4+1)-dimensional Fokas equation using the Lie group of transformation. By employing the Lie symmetry method, the Fokas equation is reduced to nonlinear ordinary differential equations which produce abundant group-invariant solutions. Numerical simulations supplement the solutions with various structures such as breather-type solitons, oscillating multi-solitons, fractal dromions, lump-type solitons, and annihilation of different solitons profiles.

Two-phase flow in a groovy curved channel

Nnamdi Fidelis Okechi et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of particles on two-phase flow in a groovy curved channel, finding that particle relaxation time relative to flow characteristic time influences fluid and particle velocities. The study also considers the effect of grooves on transient flow in the presence of fluid-particle interactions. Comparisons are made with two special cases, a two-phase flow in a smooth curved channel and a particle-free flow in a groovy curved channel.

Reexamining the one-fluid formulation for two-phase flows

Mario F. Trujillo

Summary: The one-fluid formulation for two-phase problems is established as a solution methodology, but inconsistencies are found in existing versions of momentum and energy one-field formulations, particularly for problems involving phase change. A proposed generalized one-field formulation is introduced to address these issues and exhibit the desired level of physical consistency by satisfying interfacial and bulk phase relations. This formulation is illustrated through the derivation of the VoF transport equation under phase change conditions.

Study on gas-liquid two-phase flow in the suction chamber of a centrifugal pump and its dimensionless characteristics

Chunlei Shao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the gas-liquid two-phase flow patterns in the suction chamber of a centrifugal pump through experiments and numerical simulations, establishing the relationship between flow patterns and pump characteristics under different operating conditions. The results demonstrated that the flow patterns in the suction chamber are significantly influenced by specific capacity and inlet gas volume fraction.
