Lipidomic biomarkers: Potential mediators of associations between urinary bisphenol A exposure and colorectal cancer

Xu Hong et al.

Summary: This study found a higher level of bisphenol A (BPA) in the urine of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients compared to controls, and a positive correlation between BPA and CRC biomarkers. Lipidomic screening revealed significant perturbation in the glycerophospholipid metabolism pathway, which contributed to the association between BPA exposure and CRC. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the etiology of CRC induced by environmental stressors.

PITPNA-AS1/miR-98-5p to Mediate the Cisplatin Resistance of Gastric Cancer

Zhongling Ma et al.

Summary: This study found that the overexpression of lncRNA PITPNA-AS1 in gastric cancer is associated with poor survival. Inhibiting PITPNA-AS1 can inhibit cell growth and induce apoptotic cell death in gastric cancer cells. Furthermore, PITPNA-AS1 is elevated in cisplatin-resistant gastric cancer cells, and its inhibition can increase the sensitivity of gastric cancer cells to cisplatin treatment.

Tianyi Xia et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of BPA on the migration and invasion of colon cancer cells. The results show that BPA exposure promotes cell migration and invasion through the excessive production of ROS and activation of the HIF-1 alpha/VEGF/PI3K/AKT axis. This study provides new insights into the carcinogenic effects of BPA on colon cancer and raises awareness of the environmental pollution and harm to human health caused by low-dose BPA.

PGC1α Loss Promotes Lung Cancer Metastasis through Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition

Taek-In Oh et al.

Summary: Despite therapeutic advances, lung cancer remains one of the most dangerous cancers with a low 5-year survival rate due to metastasis and recurrence. The cooperation of TCF4-TWIST1 controlled by the PGC1 alpha-ID1 transcriptional axis is suggested to mediate EMT and lung cancer metastasis, presenting a potential diagnostic and therapeutic target. Studies show that PGC1 alpha and ID1 are downregulated in lung cancer and correlate with poor survival rates.
