Evaluation of Antimicrobial Efficacy of UVC Radiation, Gaseous Ozone, and Liquid Chemicals Used for Disinfection of Silicone Dental Impression Materials

Joanna Wezgowiec et al.

Summary: Effective disinfection of dental impressions is crucial for the safety of dental personnel and patients. This study evaluated the efficacy of ultraviolet C radiation, gaseous ozone, and commercial liquid chemicals for disinfection of silicone dental impressions. Results showed that most of the tested methods were effective, but further research is needed to investigate their impact on the physical properties of the impression materials.

Effect of impression holding time and tray removal speed on the dimensional accuracy of impressions for artificial abutment tooth inclined

Yoshiaki Hirota et al.

Summary: Oral scanners can quickly capture dental impressions without impression material, but may not be as accurate for cases with inclined abutments or long spans. The curing time and removal speed of silicone impression material can impact the dimensional accuracy of impressions.

Preliminary Study: Comparative Analysis of the Effects of Ozone and Ultrasound onStreptococcus Mutans

Pamela Maria Moreira Fonseca et al.

Summary: In this study, the damage caused to Streptococcus mutans in vitro by ultrasound and ozone was compared using SEM and AF analysis. The findings indicate that both ozone and ultrasound induce morphological alterations in bacteria, with ozone leading to a significant growth of ROS. Ozone is shown to be more efficient than ultrasound in terms of microbicidal effects.

The Use of Saliva as a Biosample in the Light of COVID-19

Irena Dus-Ilnicka et al.

Summary: Saliva, as an easily collectable biofluid, holds significant value in molecular diagnostics for various fields such as general medicine, genetics, and dentistry. However, many saliva methodologies currently lack important parameters, requiring further improvement. With the COVID-19 pandemic, saliva diagnostics have shown great potential for research on SARS-CoV 2.

A Comparison of Accuracy of Different Dental Restorative Materials between Intraoral Scanning and Conventional Impression-Taking: An In Vitro Study

Jung-Hwa Lim et al.

Summary: This study compared the accuracy of digital and conventional impressions recorded for four different dental materials as substrates. The results showed no difference in accuracy between the two methods for non-metallic crowns, but for Co-Cr metallic crown, the traditional impression method showed better accuracy compared to intraoral scanning. The study highlights the importance of considering the restoration material when selecting an impression-taking method.
