Transcriptome Analysis Reveals Photoperiod-Associated Genes Expressed in Rice Anthers

Shiyu Sun et al.

Summary: This study used a transcriptomics approach to identify key genes and regulatory networks affecting pollen maturation in rice anthers in response to different day lengths. A total of 11,726 differentially expressed genes were revealed, with GO enrichment analysis showing enrichment in transport, carbohydrate, and lipid metabolic processes, as well as signaling pathways. Co-expression network analysis identified four modules strongly correlated with photoperiod, with 496 hub genes playing a key role in connecting photoperiod-sensitive genes affecting male fertility.

Unique Glutelin Expression Patterns and Seed Endosperm Structure Facilitate Glutelin Accumulation in Polyploid Rice Seed

Lu Gan et al.

Summary: The study revealed that polyploidization significantly increased the protein content of rice seeds, particularly glutelin, by influencing gene expression, protein synthesis, and storage processes. Variations in glutelin accumulation between tetraploid and diploid rice were mainly manifested in the timing, duration, and levels of gene expressions during seed filling stages.

Transcriptome profiling of two rice genotypes under mild field drought stress during grain-filling stage

Yuya Liang et al.

Summary: This study focused on how rice plants respond to drought stress during the grain-filling stage and how these responses change over time. Results showed that the moderately tolerant breeding line, '4610', had earlier and more effective responses to drought compared to the drought-sensitive indica rice cultivar, Rondo. Transcriptomic analysis identified key genes and gene families related to drought stress and reactive oxygen species scavengers that may play important roles in drought tolerance. Additionally, novel differentially expressed genes without known functions were discovered, providing potential targets for future research.
