Therapeutic Potential of Naturally Occurring Small Molecules to Target the Wnt/beta-Catenin Signaling Pathway in Colorectal Cancer

Luiz F. S. Oliveira et al.

Summary: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of death worldwide, and its treatment is limited due to late diagnoses and resistance to available treatments. The use of naturally occurring small molecules that inhibit the Wnt/beta-catenin pathway in experimental CRC models has shown promise in overcoming these challenges. However, moving these small molecules from the laboratory to the clinical platform presents its own set of progress and challenges. This review discusses the importance of understanding the role of the Wnt/beta-catenin pathway in CRC and highlights the potential of naturally occurring small molecules as therapeutic agents.

Chemistry, pharmacokinetics, pharmacological activities, and toxicity of Quercitrin

Junren Chen et al.

Summary: This paper systematically reviews the natural sources, pharmacological activities, and roles of quercitrin in various diseases, as well as its pharmacokinetics, structure-activity relationship, and toxicity. The underlying molecular mechanisms of quercitrin in treating related diseases and the dose-effect relationships are discussed, along with the need for further high-quality studies to establish its clinical efficacy.
