Dynamic response mechanism of the galloping energy harvester under fluctuating wind conditions

Ming Xu et al.

Summary: The study investigates the dynamic characteristics of the galloping energy harvester by separating wind speed into mean and fluctuating components, considering the latter as Gaussian white noise. Decoupling the output voltage using a generalized harmonic transformation and deriving mean output power through stochastic averaging are key approaches employed. Critical wind speed and optimal parameters of the harvester were determined, with the analytical procedure validated through Monte Carlo simulation.

Modeling and experimental investigation of asymmetric distance with magnetic coupling based on galloping piezoelectric energy harvester

Huirong Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper presents an asymmetric magnetic coupling piezoelectric energy harvester based on galloping to scavenge low-speed wind. The mathematical model of the harvester is constructed and verified through experiments. The results show that the asymmetric harvester has a lower threshold wind speed and lower power and voltage output compared to the traditional galloping piezoelectric energy harvester. The potential energy of the harvesting system at different magnet distances is analyzed, and the harvester is found to operate in monostable and bistable states.

Junlei Wang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a wake galloping energy harvester for heat exchange systems and investigates the effects of different ash deposition types on energy harvesting performance. The results show that the bell-shaped cylinder is more beneficial for energy harvesting, and the optimal configuration is determined with a space ratio of 1.5 between the upstream and downstream cylinders. Both types of ash deposit cylinders can cause the quenching phenomenon, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies explain the underlying mechanisms.
