Influence of applied voltage and conductive material in DIET promotion for methane generation

Summary: This study investigated the influence of different applied voltages on biological-, electrode-, and conductive material-mediated direct inter-species electron transfer (DIET). The results showed that DIET can significantly enhance methane production at an appropriate voltage. However, high voltage can inhibit methane production efficiency.

The role of electrical voltage application in enhancing anaerobic digestion of long chain fatty acids: Connection Matters!

Summary: This study explores the effects of electrical voltage application in anaerobic digestion on recalcitrant/toxic wastes and the benefits of combining it with other DIET-S strategies. Results show that application of EV and supplementation with magnetite in DIET-S reactors can enhance CH4 production rates and improve the beta-oxidation of LCFA. Additionally, reconnecting EV can significantly increase the abundance of key genes and improve anaerobic digestion performance.
