Controlling carbon formation over Ni/CeO2 catalyst for dry reforming of CH4 by tuning Ni crystallite size and oxygen vacancies of the support

Renata O. da Fonseca et al.

Summary: The study found that an increase in Ni crystallite size promotes the formation of carbon, but carbon deposition is negligible when the crystallite size is either small or large. Oxygen vacancies do not contribute to carbon removal from the Ni surface.

Ni-CeO2/SBA-15 Catalyst Prepared by Glycine-Assisted Impregnation Method for Low-Temperature Dry Reforming of Methane

Jiliang Yang et al.

Summary: Developing low-temperature nickel-based catalysts with good resistance to coking and sintering for dry reforming of methane (DRM) is of great significance. In this study, Ni-CeO2/SBA-15-G catalyst was successfully prepared by glycine-assisted impregnation method, which exhibited excellent catalytic performance with high CH4 conversion at low temperature and resistance to carbon deposition.

In-situ experimental and computational approach to investigate the nature of active site in low-temperature CO-PROX over CuOx-CeO2 catalyst

Shubhadeep Adak et al.

Summary: Preferential oxidation of CO in the presence of excess hydrogen is essential for preventing poisoning of the Pt-anode in PEMFCs. A highly active Cu-CeO2 catalyst demonstrated 100% CO conversion at low temperature without deactivation even after 100 hours of operation, making it suitable for practical fuel cell applications. The catalytic mechanism involves reversible changes in valence states of Cu and Ce ions to facilitate CO oxidation to CO2 via oxygen abstraction from the lattice.

Ni-containing CeO2 rods for dry reforming of methane: Activity tests and a multiscale lattice Boltzmann model analysis in two model geometries

Filip Strnisa et al.

Summary: Experimental and theoretical modeling of low-temperature dry methane reforming over Ni-containing CeO2 rods was conducted, with characterization studies revealing distortion of CeO2 structure due to Ni incorporation. Various techniques were used to characterize the catalyst, and activity tests showed similar trends in two model geometries. The lattice Boltzmann model developed for mixed gas flow was used in multiscale simulations and qualitatively matched experimental data.
