Recent development in catalyst and reactor design for CO2 reforming of alcohols to syngas: A review

Nornasuha Abdullah et al.

Summary: Global energy demand has a significant impact on GHGs emissions, and catalytic conversion of biomass-derived alcohols into syngas is a viable option for reducing GHGs. However, research in this field is limited, and the high reaction temperature poses a major challenge in the CO2 reforming process.

Dysprosium promotion on Co/Al2O3 catalysts towards enhanced hydrogen generation from methane dry reforming

Anh Ngoc T. Cao et al.

Summary: Dysprosium (Dy) promoted Co/Al2O3 catalysts with different Dy loadings were synthesized and found to enhance the basicity and activity of the catalysts for methane dry reforming. The addition of Dy reduced the crystallite size of Co3O4, resulting in better metal dispersion and higher catalytic performance. The optimal Dy loading was found to be 0.3 wt%, achieving the highest CH4 conversion and H-2 and CO yields.

Contemporary trends in composite Ni-based catalysts for CO2 reforming of methane

Mohammad Yusuf et al.

Summary: Converting greenhouse gases into valuable syngas through catalytic dry reforming of methane (DRM) is a viable solution, with Ni-based catalysts being extensively used and tested. The main limitation lies in catalyst deactivation due to carbon formation and sintering. Current research focus is on composite catalysts and density functional theory modeling for designing an ideal catalyst.

Recent advances during CH4 dry reforming for syngas production: A mini review

Chunsheng Wang et al.

Summary: This review discusses recent advances in the development of efficient and stable catalysts for methane dry reforming, with a focus on novel materials, advanced characterizations, and improved reaction system compatibility. Crystalline oxide catalysts and new materials demonstrate superior reactivity and stability, while progress in advanced characterizations has led to the establishment of reaction mechanisms. Efforts are also being made to upgrade reaction systems for higher efficiency and milder conditions.

Regeneration process using CO2 in situ of Ni-Y2O3-Al2O3 aerogel spent catalysts from dry reforming with continuous syngas production

Camilla Daniela Moura-Nickel et al.

Summary: The coke deposition deactivating catalyst is a challenge during reforming processes. However, the use of in situ CO2 for coke gasification at 650-700 degrees C can recover the catalytic activity, while temperature higher than 700 degrees C may cause deactivation by sintering. The regeneration method using CO2 is an excellent alternative to traditional air oxidation reactions for removing coke, as it not only produces useful CO but also allows the maintenance of reactor operating conditions.

Combined steam and dry reforming of methanol over Fe-Mn-Cu/ZrO2 catalyst to syngas formation: Study about kinetic and fuzzy model approaches

Amir Mosayebi et al.

Summary: The study conducted CSDRM experiments to measure the response of Fe-Mn-Cu/ZrO2 catalyst under different conditions, and established kinetic and fuzzy models to describe the reaction process. The kinetic model obtained H-2 yield closer to experimental data, while the fuzzy model approach performed better in methanol conversion.
