Controllable Synthesis of Web-Footed PdCu Nanosheets and Their Electrocatalytic Applications

Summary: Controllable synthesis of web-footed PdCu nanosheets via a surfactant-free method is reported in this study. The Cu(II) precursor is found to play a critical role in growing branches along the lateral of nanosheets. This work demonstrates a Pd-based alloy nanoarchitecture for efficient and stable electrocatalysis of both ethanal and formic acid oxidation reactions.

Surface Nitridation of PdCu Nanosheets to Promote Charge Transfer and Suppress CO Poisoning toward Ethanol Electrooxidation

Summary: The interaction of multi-active components in alcohol fuel cells can effectively maximize catalytic ability. By loading platinum quantum dots onto nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes, a quaternary hybrid with Co-MnO is formed to significantly enhance catalytic activity for alcohol oxidation, showing excellent methanol and ethanol oxidation mass current densities. The strong electronic synergistic effect between Co-MnO and Pt quantum dots also improves the CO anti-poisoning ability.

Facile construction of mesoporous carbon enclosed with NiCoPx nanoparticles for desirable Pt-based catalyst support in methanol oxidation

Summary: A novel nanoarchitecture has been successfully constructed by confining bimetallic phosphides within mesoporous carbon as Pt support, leading to enhanced catalytic activity and stability in methanol oxidation reaction. The synergistic effect between Pt, NiCoPx, and mesoporous carbon has resulted in increased active sites and intrinsic activity per site. The encapsulation carbon layer protects the co-catalytic effect of NiCoPx after long-time exposure.

Low-platinum catalyst based on sulfur doped graphene for methanol oxidation in alkaline media

De-alloyed PtCu/C catalysts with enhanced electrocatalytic performance for the oxygen reduction reaction

Summary: In this study, carbon supported PtCu catalysts were prepared by a simple polyol method, followed by an electrochemical de-alloying treatment to form PtCu/C catalysts with improved catalytic activity. The de-alloyed PtCu/C catalyst showed a significant enhancement in mass activity after cycling, outperforming state-of-the-art commercial Pt/C catalysts. This work provides insights for designing highly active and stable catalyst platforms for oxygen reduction reaction and proton exchange membrane fuel cell applications.

New strategy of S,N co-doping of conductive-copolymer-derived carbon nanotubes to effectively improve the dispersion of PtCu nanocrystals for boosting the electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol
