Ni-doped TiO2/TiO2 homojunction photoanodes for efficient dye-sensitized solar cells

Abdullah Atilgan et al.

Summary: The development of novel bilayer photoanodes is crucial for efficient dye-sensitized solar cells. In this study, a homojunction photoanode consisting of undoped and Ni-doped TiO2 layers was prepared. By tuning the location of the doped layer, the photoconversion efficiency was greatly improved. The bilayer structure enhanced light absorption, resulting in increased short circuit current and open-circuit voltage.

Synthesis ofTiO2nanostructures by green approach as photoanodes for dye-sensitized solar cells

Rajkumar Senthamarai et al.

Summary: Clean and green energy is a global priority, and in this study, TiO(2) nanostructures were prepared using fruit extracts as reducing agents. The structural and optical properties of the synthesized TiO(2) nanostructures were characterized, and their performance in dye-sensitized solar cells was studied using two different dyes.

TiO2 as a Photocatalyst for Water Splitting-An Experimental and Theoretical Review

Hakon Eidsvag et al.

Summary: TiO2 is widely used as a photocatalyst due to its low cost and stability, however challenges such as wide bandgap, long electron-hole recombination time, and high overpotential for the hydrogen evolution reaction still persist. Further research is needed in order to address these challenges and drive the field forward.

CHARACTERIZATION AND PROPERTIES OF TITANIUM(IV) OXIDE, SYNTHESIZED BY DIFFERENT ROUTES

Tetiana Dontsova et al.

Summary: The article investigates the influence of precursor type and sol-gel synthesis conditions of TiO2 on its properties. It was found that amorphous and crystalline TiO2 exhibit different adsorption and photocatalytic properties, with amorphous TiO2 showing better adsorption performance and crystalline TiO2 displaying enhanced photocatalytic activity. The acidic nature of the TiO2 surface was identified as a key factor explaining the superior sorption and photocatalysis compared to cationic dyes.
