Drug Delivery from Stimuli-Responsive Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-N-isopropylmethacrylamide)/Chitosan Core/Shell Nanohydrogels

Andres Ortega-Garcia et al.

Summary: This paper reports the synthesis of stimulus-responsive polymer nanohydrogels with a core/shell structure using batch emulsion polymerization in the presence of chitosan micelles. The nanohydrogels were loaded with the drug doxycycline hyclate and showed a higher release amount at acidic pH. Mathematical models were used to fit the experimental drug release data.

Nanocarrier mediated drug delivery as an impeccable therapeutic approach against Alzheimer's disease

Rajeev Taliyan et al.

Summary: Dementia is a progressive memory-related neurodegenerative disease observed in the geriatric population. The current therapeutics for Alzheimer's disease primarily target symptomatic management and face challenges in crossing the blood-brain barrier and blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier. Nanocarriers show promise in facilitating targeted drug delivery for the management of Alzheimer's disease.

Developing a molecularly imprinted channels catalyst based on template effect for targeted removal of organic micropollutants from wastewaters

Min Tang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel catalyst with three-dimensional molecularly imprinted channels for the removal of noxious organic micropollutants from wastewaters. The catalyst exhibits robust selectivity and larger adsorption capacity, resulting in efficient removal of the targeted pollutant. The insights gained from this study can pave the way for improved wastewater treatment.

Molecularly Imprinted Polymer-Based Smart Prodrug Delivery System for Specific Targeting, Prolonged Retention, and Tumor Microenvironment-Triggered Release

Zikuan Gu et al.

Summary: This study presents a smart prodrug delivery system based on molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for specific accumulation and gradual release of drugs at tumor sites. In contrast to traditional prodrug designs, this system is liver-independent and relies on tumor environments for drug release.

Signaling mechanisms underlying inhibition of neuroinflammation by resveratrol in neurodegenerative diseases

Juan Huang et al.

Summary: Neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, involve progressive loss of neurons and are common in the elderly. Excessive microglial activation leading to neuroinflammation is closely linked to the onset and progression of these diseases. Natural products like resveratrol show therapeutic potential in modulating microglial polarization and controlling neuroinflammation in the treatment of NDs.

Molecular mechanisms of resveratrol and EGCG in the inhibition of Aβ42 aggregation and disruption of Aβ42 protofibril: similarities and differences

Fangying Li et al.

Summary: Resveratrol (RSV) and epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) have been found to inhibit the aggregation of amyloid-beta protein (A beta) and may be promising strategies for treating Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, the specific mechanisms of how RSV inhibits A beta(42) aggregation and disrupts A beta(42) protofibril, as well as the differences between RSV and EGCG in their inhibitory/disruptive effects, still need further investigation.

Quercetin improves cognitive disorder in aging mice by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation

Han Li et al.

Summary: The study showed that quercetin could improve spatial learning and memory impairment in aging mice, as well as reduce neuroinflammation by regulating the Sirtuin1/NLRP3 pathway. This suggests that quercetin may help prevent age-related neurodegenerative diseases.
