A DAMP-scavenging, IL-10-releasing hydrogel promotes neural regeneration and motor function recovery after spinal cord injury

He Shen et al.

Summary: A dual-functional hydrogel scaffold was developed for treating SCI, scavenging DAMPs and releasing IL-10. In vitro and in vivo studies showed that this scaffold reduced proinflammatory responses, enhanced neurogenic differentiation, suppressed cytokine production, and promoted neural regeneration to a greater extent compared to control scaffolds.

Bioinspired Design of Novel Microscaffolds for Fibroblast Guidance toward In Vitro Tissue Building

Parisa Pedram et al.

Summary: Porous microscaffolds play a crucial role in tissue engineering by controlling cell functions and guiding tissue formation. The study developed a new method to prepare porous PCL microscaffolds with a bioinspired structure, supporting the growth and biosynthesis of human dermal fibroblasts. By adjusting PEO concentration, coagulation bath temperature, and starting solution composition, the microscaffolds showed controllable diameter and interconnected pores, enabling the formation of hybrid tissue constructs in vitro.

Controlled release of baricitinib from a thermos-responsive hydrogel system inhibits inflammation by suppressing JAK2/STAT3 pathway in acute spinal cord injury

Xuan-Qi Zheng et al.

Summary: The injectable PLGA-PEG-PLGA thermos-sensitive hydrogel containing Baricitinib (Bari-P hydrogel) reduced neuronal apoptosis and promoted functional recovery in spinal cord injured rats. By inhibiting the JAK2-STAT3 pathway and controlling the expression of inflammatory cytokines, the Bari-P hydrogel showed therapeutic potential.

Mucoadhesive nanostructured lipid carriers as a cannabidiol nasal delivery system for the treatment of neuropathic pain

Ananda Pulini Matarazzo et al.

Summary: The study explores the therapeutic potential of CBD nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) for nasal administration in pain-related pathologies. By developing particles with positively charged surface and incorporating in-situ gelling polymers, the CBD-NLC formulations showed promising results in terms of mucoadhesion and in vivo efficacy compared to oral or nasal administration of CBD solution.

Summary: CBD, a phytocannabinoid derived from Cannabis sativa, has been found to have antipsychotic, anti-depressive, anxiolytic, and antiepileptic effects. Recent research indicates that CBD plays a role in regulating mitochondrial processes, but current data show contradictory findings on the magnitude and direction of its effects.
