Genome-wide association of the metabolic shifts underpinning dark-induced senescence in Arabidopsis

Feng Zhu et al.

Summary: Research using a genome-wide association approach characterized the metabolic shifts during dark-induced senescence, identifying 215 associations with 81 candidate genes. The roles of four genes in dark-induced senescence were validated, along with the association between tyrosine contents and transcriptional activity. Single-nucleotide polymorphisms affecting gene expression were found to underlie variation in threonine and glycine levels in the dark.

Genome-wide SNPs reveal the fine-scale population structure of Laodelphax striatellus in China using double-digest restriction site-associated DNA sequencing

Xingya Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, the genetic diversity and differentiation of the small brown planthopper (SBPH) in China were examined using ddRADseq. The results revealed low genetic diversity and significant differentiation among the populations, with three distinct genetic clusters identified. The findings also suggested recent rapid expansion and severe bottlenecks in most populations.

Silencing suppressors of rice black-streaked dwarf virus and rice stripe virus hijack the 26S proteasome of Laodelphax striatellus to facilitate virus accumulation and transmission

Ying Li et al.

Summary: This study reveals the infection mechanism of Rice black-streaked dwarf virus (RBSDV) and rice stripe virus (RSV) in insect vectors. They promote their own accumulation and transmission by interfering with the 26S proteasome in insects, providing new insights into the virus transmission mechanism in insect vectors.

Using MetaboAnalyst 5.0 for LC-HRMS spectra processing, multi-omics integration and covariate adjustment of global metabolomics data

Zhiqiang Pang et al.

Summary: Liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS) is widely used in global metabolomics studies, but there are still challenges in data processing, statistical analysis, and functional interpretation. To overcome these barriers, the MetaboAnalyst platform has been updated to provide step-by-step instructions.

Changes in the Plant β-Sitosterol/Stigmasterol Ratio Caused by the Plant Parasitic Nematode Meloidogyne incognita

Alessandro Cabianca et al.

Summary: The study found that changes in sterols in important crops after infection with Meloidogyne incognita mainly manifest as a change in the beta-sitosterol/stigmasterol ratio, particularly an increase in beta-sitosterol and a decrease in stigmasterol in tomato, soybean, cucumber, and corn. Cholesterol levels increased in tomato, cucumber, and corn, while being often undetectable in uninfected plants. The expression of the sterol 22C-desaturase gene CYP710A11 in tomato was found to be consistent with the sterol profile after M. incognita infection, providing new insights into plant-nematode interactions.
