A Lagrangian free-stream boundary condition for weakly compressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics

Shuoguo Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a Lagrangian free-stream boundary condition for WCSPH, which reduces the domain-size effect and improves computational efficiency for simulating flows around static or moving geometries. The boundary condition is implemented using several numerical techniques, including precise identification of surface particles, far-field corrections of density and velocity, and improved in-and outlet boundaries. The accuracy and efficiency of the method are validated through test cases and demonstrated through more complex examples.

Application of SPH to Single and Multiphase Geophysical, Biophysical and Industrial Fluid Flows

Paul W. Cleary et al.

Summary: The SPH method demonstrates strong predictive capabilities in a variety of challenging fluid flow applications, including free surface hydrodynamics, fluid-structure interactions, and multiphase flows. It exhibits advantages in handling free surfaces, strong advection, high deformation levels, and intrinsic history tracking, making it well suited for these applications.

The δ-ALE-SPH model: An arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian framework for the δ-SPH model with particle shifting technique

M. Antuono et al.

Summary: The behaviour of a weakly-compressible SPH scheme obtained by rewriting the Navier-Stokes equations in an arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) format is studied. The proposed model is expressed in terms of primitive variables (density and velocity) and is written using the standard differential formulations of weakly-compressible SPH schemes. The scheme can be stabilized by including appropriate diffusion terms in both the equations of density and mass.
