Synthesis and characterisation of MCM-41@SiO2-NH-pydc as a new nano mesoporous sorbent: application for the simultaneous preconcentration of cationic dyes previous spectrophotometric determination, using taguchi experimental design

Mehdi Sharifi et al.

Summary: In this study, a new nano mesoporous adsorbent MCM-41@SiO2-NH-pydc was successfully synthesized and used for the clean-up, preconcentration and determination of crystal violet and auramine O dyes. The sorbent was characterized and its extraction performance was evaluated. The results showed that MCM-41@SiO2-NH-pydc was a suitable candidate for dispersive solid phase micro extraction (DSPME) and provided advantages of low cost, time-saving and environmental friendliness.

Voltammetric Behaviour of Rhodamine B at a Screen-Printed Carbon Electrode and Its Trace Determination in Environmental Water Samples

Kevin C. Honeychurch

Summary: The voltammetric behavior of Rhodamine B on a screen-printed carbon electrode was studied using cyclic and differential pulse voltammetry. Reduction peaks and oxidation peaks were observed, and the nature of the redox reactions was investigated. The SPCE method was evaluated by analyzing Rhodamine B in environmental water samples.

Dynamic adsorption behavior of benzene, toluene, and xylene VOCs in single- and multi-component systems by activated carbon derived from defatted black cumin (Nigella sativa L.) biowaste

Ebru Batur et al.

Summary: In this study, the production of activated carbon (AC) from defatted black cumin biowaste (DBCB) using ZnCl2 activation was optimized, and the surface and textural properties of the AC were characterized. The competitive adsorption behavior of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by the AC was also investigated.

Use of Paliurus spina-christi Mill. as a novel biosorbent: efficient biosorption of Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions from aqueous solution

Ferda Ozmal et al.

Summary: The biosorption process of lead(II) and cadmium(II) ions onto blackthorn (Paliurus spina-christi Mill.) was studied, and the biosorbent was characterized using various analysis techniques. The effect of pH, biosorbent dosage, contact time and temperature on the biosorption yield was investigated, and the optimal conditions were determined. The desorption ability of the biosorbent was also assessed through consecutive biosorption-desorption cycles. Real sample application showed that blackthorn can effectively remove lead and cadmium ions from contaminated water media.
