Structural analysis of bis(pyridyl)diimines: Factors affecting the molecular geometry and supramolecular packing

Fayaz Baig et al.

Summary: Systematic analysis of a series of bis(pyridyl)diimines' structural features was conducted to understand the effect of different types of interactions on molecular geometry and solid-state packing. The study generated data sets on various possibilities of supramolecular synthons through analyzing compounds organized by weak interactions. The research findings revealed that slight variations in molecular features could lead to changes in non-covalent interactions and crystal packing in the solid state.

Resolvable polymorphism in an intergrowth of two modifications of tris(diethyldithiocarbamato)-antimony

Seik Weng Ng

Summary: The compound Tris(diethyldithiocarb amato-kappa S) antimony (III), [Sb(C5H10NS2)(3)], is tentatively determined to consist of a triclinic and a monoclinic polymorph intergrown into each other. Each phase has a distinct geometry - a psi-capped octahedron in the triclinic phase and a psi-pentagonal bipyramid in the monoclinic phase. The study also identifies polyhedral symbols for different polymorphic modifications of Sb-III, Bi-III, and Pb-II coordination compounds, showing that lone-pair stereochemistry can be an important factor in distinguishing related structures.
