Biopolymer-template synthesized CaSO4 nanoparticles and evaluation of their photocatalytic activity and cytotoxicity effects

Zahra Sabouri et al.

Summary: Our work presents a novel green strategy to develop biocompatible CaSO4-based nanocatalysts using environmentally-friendly natural sources. The CaSO4 nanoparticles were synthesized through co-precipitation method and gelatin was used as a stabilizer. The synthesized nanocatalysts showed hexagonal phase structure and strong absorption at 280 nm. They exhibited excellent photocatalytic properties for dye degradation and low cytotoxicity on the Huh-7 cell line.

Green synthesis of nickel oxide nanoparticles using Salvia hispanica L. (chia) seeds extract and studies of their photocatalytic activity and cytotoxicity effects

Zahra Sabouri et al.

Summary: In this study, NiO-NPs were produced using Chia seeds extract as the capping agent, with physical and morphological features examined through various techniques. The biosynthesized NiO-NPs were found to have a spherical shape and contained oxygen and nickel elements. The XRD pattern showed corresponding peaks to the crystal structure of NiO-NPs, while VSM analysis detected superparamagnetic behavior and reported non-concentration-dependent cytotoxicity effects. The high photocatalytic capacity and low cytotoxic effects of NiO-NPs suggest their applicability for disease control and toxin removal.
