Tuning of spin crossover properties in a series of mononuclear cobalt(II) complexes based on a macrocyclic tetradentate ligand and pseudohalide coligands

Subrata Ghosh et al.

Summary: The synthesis and characterization of three mononuclear cobalt(II) complexes were investigated using various analytical techniques. Two complexes exhibited reversible spin-crossover behavior between high-spin and low-spin states, while one complex maintained a low-spin configuration even at higher temperatures and displayed incomplete and reversible spin-crossover behavior. Additionally, one complex showed reversible redox behavior.

Ferroelectric and Spin Crossover Behavior in a Cobalt(II) Compound Induced by Polar-Ligand-Substituent Motion

Ryohei Akiyoshi et al.

Summary: The article investigates the ferroelectric spin crossover behavior in a cobalt(II) complex and finds that the flip-flop motion of the fluorophenyl ring can affect the spin state conversion. Confirmation of this effect is provided through single crystal X-ray structures, magnetic susceptibility measurements, and solid-state NMR spectroscopy.

Effect of ligand substituents and tuning the spin-state switching in manganese(iii) complexes

Subrata Ghosh et al.

Summary: Three mononuclear manganese(iii) complexes based on flexible hexadentate ligands were synthesized, and the impact of ligand substituents was studied through various analyses. The complexes exhibit different spin-state switching behaviors, with complex 2 showing reversible two-step spin-state switching and complex 3 demonstrating incomplete spin-state switching. Single-crystal X-ray structural studies revealed the presence of three different spin states in complex 2 during the spin-state switching process. Electrochemical investigations showed that the reduced state of manganese(iii) centers in complex 3 is more easily accessible compared to complexes 1 and 2.
