Synthesis of Cyclometalated Gold(III) Complexes via Catalytic Rhodium to Gold(III) Transmetalation

Jaime Martin et al.

Summary: A catalytic method for synthesizing a variety of cyclometalated (C^N)gold(III) complexes is reported. The unprecedented Rh-to-Au(III) transmetalation allows for the easy transfer of (C^N) ligands between the two metals in a redox-neutral process. The reaction uses commercially available precursors and proceeds under mild and environmentally friendly conditions. Experimental and computational studies support a multi-step transmetalation mechanism from rhodium to gold as the underlying process for these transformations.

Summary: We report the synthesis and characterization of seven new tetranuclear 3d-4f complexes. The self-assembly using the acyclic ligand system was successful for all seven complexes, which exhibit the same core structure. Five complexes showed ferromagnetic ground states and single-molecule magnet properties.

Investigation of mononuclear, dinuclear, and trinuclear transition metal (II) complexes derived from an asymmetric Salamo-based ligand possessing three different coordination modes

Ruo-Nan Bian et al.

Summary: A new asymmetric Salamo-based ligand H2L was synthesized for the formation of mononuclear, dinuclear, and trinuclear transition metal (II) complexes with Cu(II), Co(II), and Ni(II) ions, showing different coordination modes. Optical properties including UV-Vis, IR, and fluorescence were investigated, while antibacterial activities of the complexes were explored, revealing enhanced inhibitory effects with increasing concentrations.

From antiferromagnetic to ferromagnetic exchange in a family of phenoxido-bridged heterodinuclear Cu(II)-Mn(II) complexes: A magneto-structural theoretical study

Shuchang Luo et al.

Summary: In this study, density functional theory with a broken symmetry approach was used to investigate phenoxido-bridged heterodinuclear complexes, leading to the development of magneto-structural correlations. The analysis revealed a linear correlation between the magnetic coupling constant J value and the bond angle Cu-O-Mn, with a transition from anti-ferromagnetic to ferromagnetic interaction observed for bond angles less than 97.20 degrees.

Single-crystal-to-single-crystal mediated metal exchange from Zn(II) to Cu(II) and diverse structures in Zn/Cu coordination polymers using pyridylmethionine ligand

Summary: A reaction between 2-((pyridin-4-yl)methylamino)-4-(methylthio)butanoic acid (HL) and Zn(OAc)(2)·2H(2)O resulted in a coordination polymer [Zn(L)(HL)(H2O)(2)](n) (Zn-1). Metal exchange with Cu(OAc)(2)·H2O led to the formation of [Cu(L)(HL)(H2O)(2)](n) (Cu-1) via a single-crystal-to-single-crystal mediated route, demonstrating a unique metal exchange process with visual color change and spectroscopic evidence.
