Aminated lignin by ultrasonic method with enhanced arsenic (V) adsorption from polluted water

Qizhou Wu et al.

Summary: Aminated lignin was prepared using ultrasonic treatment at different frequencies, and the best adsorption capacity and regenerability for As(V) were found at a frequency of 32 kHz. The Langmuir model and pseudo-first-order/pseudo-second-order kinetics models were used to describe the adsorption process, indicating it is a physical/chemical process. This study provides a new idea for the development of lignin-based materials and offers an innovative approach for highly effective removal of As(V) from wastewater.

In-situ constructing visible light CdS/Cd-MOF photocatalyst with enhanced photodegradation of methylene blue

Cheng Jing et al.

Summary: The CdS/Cd-MOF nanocomposites show efficient photocatalytic performance due to their larger specific surface area providing more active sites and the broadening of the light response range by CdS loading. The formed type-II heterojunction between Cd-MOF and CdS effectively inhibits the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes, leading to improved photocatalytic activity.

New emerging magnetic, optical and photocatalytic properties of Tb doped TiO2 interfaced with CoFe2O4 nanoparticles

M. Stefan et al.

Summary: In this study, CoFe2O4/TiO2:Tb composite nanoparticles were synthesized by a chemical method, and it was found that there was a spin transfer between TiO2 and cobalt ferrite, resulting in ordered magnetic moments of oxygen vacancies in TiO2. The magnetic moments of Tb ions could have different coupling states depending on the dopant concentration, and the magnetically ordered interface transferred states helped increase the lifetime of photoexcited electrons.

Mohammad Hassanpour et al.

Summary: The study revealed that nanoparticles have a significant impact on the growth parameters of Dunaliella salina, with the effects being dependent on the nanoparticle concentration. Lower concentrations of nanoparticles (15 and 30 mg/L) promoted cell numbers, specific growth, biomass, and pigments, while a higher concentration (60 mg/L) led to elevated levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), indicating a destructive effect on algal cells.

An efficient Z-scheme CdS/g-C3N4 nano catalyst in methyl orange photodegradation: Focus on the scavenging agent and mechanism

Nafiseh Pourshirband et al.

Summary: The study focused on estimating the band gap energy and potential positions of valence and conduction bands for CdS/g-C3N4 coupled sample, and constructing energy diagrams for illustrating the photodegradation mechanism pathway. The highest efficiency for methyl orange degradation was achieved in acidic conditions, where the predominant MO species could be adsorbed by the catalyst via hydrogen bonding. The importance of photogenerated electrons, holes, superoxide radicals, and hydroxyl radicals in the photodegradation process was identified, with the direct Z-scheme mechanism proving to be more efficient.
