Jessie S. Gibson et al.

Summary: This scoping review provides an overview of social withdrawal in Huntington's disease (HD), highlighting its association with caregiver burden, behavioral issues, and psychiatric, cognitive, and physiological changes. Factors Related to Passive Social Withdrawal and Active Social Avoidance in Schizophrenia

Emily A. Farina et al.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between motivational subtypes, social abilities, and social functioning in schizophrenia. The results showed that passive motivation was associated with social functioning, while active motivation was not. Neither passive nor active motivation predicted social functioning on self-report measures. Additionally, performance on tasks of social abilities did not predict motivation.

Loneliness, Social Isolation, and Chronic Disease Outcomes

Julie Christiansen et al.

Summary: Loneliness and social isolation were independently associated with cardiovascular disease and Type 2 diabetes within a 5 year follow-up period. However, there were no significant associations between loneliness or social isolation and COPD and cancer. The associations of loneliness and social isolation with CVD and T2D were fully explained by baseline psychological and behavioral factors.
