Inhibition of ferroptosis reduces susceptibility to frequent excessive alcohol consumption-induced atrial fibrillation

Chang Dai et al.

Summary: Both long-term and short-term alcohol consumption can disrupt internal homeostasis and contribute to the development of atrial fibrillation. This study examines the involvement of ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of cell death, in alcohol-induced atrial fibrillation. The results show that frequent excessive alcohol consumption activates ferroptosis and increases susceptibility to atrial fibrillation. However, inhibition of ferroptosis can reduce iron overload and reactive oxygen species generation, ultimately decreasing the susceptibility to atrial fibrillation.

MiR-378a-3p/SLC7A11 regulate ferroptosis in nerve injury induced by lead exposure

Weixuan Wang et al.

Summary: An increasing number of studies have indicated that ferroptosis plays a crucial role in neurodegenerative diseases, but its involvement in nerve injury caused by lead exposure is still unclear. This study treated cells and mice with lead acetate and found that lead exposure induced ferroptosis. Moreover, miR-378a-3p and its regulation of SLC7A11 were investigated in this process.

NRF2-GPX4/SOD2 axis imparts resistance to EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors in non-small-cell lung cancer cells

Chun-shuang Ma et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the crucial role of NRF2 in mediating resistance to EGFR-TKIs by regulating the expression of GPX4 and SOD2. Targeting the NRF2-GPX4/SOD2 pathway may be a potential strategy for overcoming resistance to EGFR-TKIs, providing a novel approach in treating NSCLC.
