A New Controlled Release System for Propolis Polyphenols and Its Biochemical Activity for Skin Applications

Eleni Spanidi et al.

Summary: A new encapsulation and delivery system for propolis polyphenols has been developed, showing significant encapsulation efficiency and controlled release rate. The system retains the antioxidant, antimutagenic, and anti-aging effects of propolis polyphenols similar to propolis methanolic extracts.

Nanoencapsulation of propolis extract by sodium caseinate-maltodextrin complexes

Mansooreh Soleimanifard et al.

Summary: Propolis extract was entrapped in sodium caseinate-maltodextrin nanocomplex to improve its handling properties. Smaller nanocomplexes with lower PDI and core/encapsulant ratio showed better encapsulation efficiency. FT-IR and XRD analysis confirmed successful incorporation of PE within the nanocomplexes.

Influence of sodium caseinate, maltodextrin, pectin and their Maillard conjugate on the stability, in vitro release, anti-oxidant property and cell viability of eugenol-olive oil nanoemulsions

Pramod G. Nagaraju et al.

Summary: In this study, the influence of proteins, polysaccharides, and their Maillard conjugates on the properties of eugenol nanoemulsions/powder was investigated. The results showed that Maillard conjugates improved the stability of nanoemulsions compared to proteins or polysaccharides alone. Additionally, SCMDC encapsulated eugenol exhibited higher antioxidant capacity and reduced toxicity compared to native eugenol.
