Comparative Genomics of Typical and Atypical Aeromonas salmonicida Complete Genomes Revealed New Insights into Pathogenesis Evolution

Ignacio Vasquez et al.

Summary: In this study, the complete closed genomes of four Aeromonas salmonicida strains were sequenced and compared to elucidate their molecular diversity and pathogenic evolution. The genomic differences between typical and atypical strains were found to be mainly related to insertion sequences (ISs) activity. The relationship between phenotype and A. salmonicida subspecies' taxonomy was not evident.

Status of sablefish, Anoplopoma fimbria, aquaculture

Frederick William Goetz et al.

Summary: Sablefish, also known as black cod, is a marine species with high omega-3 fatty acid content and superior quality flesh. Despite a decrease in wild populations, efforts have been made to commercially aquaculture sablefish due to its exceptional value. Research has shown progress in production methods, but further studies are needed to optimize nutritional requirements and develop effective vaccines against diseases in sablefish.

Mucosal immunoglobulins of teleost fish: A decade of advances

Irene Salinas et al.

Summary: Immunoglobulins play critical roles in the immune systems of jawed vertebrates, with IgT identified as playing a predominant role in fish mucosal immunity. Recent studies have highlighted the importance of secretory Igs in maintaining microbiota homeostasis and controlling pathogens at mucosal sites. This review aims to summarize the current status of fish Igs research since the discovery of IgT, while identifying future research directions.

Production and characterization of a mouse monoclonal antibody against smallmouth bass (Micropterus dolomieu) IgM

Christopher A. Ottinger et al.

Summary: A murine monoclonal antibody specific for IgM heavy chain in smallmouth bass was produced and shown to also recognize Ig heavy chains in largemouth bass and bluegill. When used in inhibition kinetic assay, the mAb was found to be effective in analyzing total plasma IgM in smallmouth bass.

Sablefish (Anoplopoma fimbra Pallas, 1814) plasma biochemistry and hematology reference intervals including blood cell morphology

Carla B. Schubiger et al.

Summary: This paper provides essential reference intervals for plasma biochemistry and hematology of sablefish, suggesting fasting for 24-36 hours to reduce hematology artifacts. The study also points out potential interference factors in blood analysis that need to be evaluated for removal methods.
