Taurine supplements in high-fat diets improve survival of juvenile Monopterus albus by reducing lipid deposition and intestinal damage

Yong Shi et al.

Summary: The study found that a high-fat diet had negative effects on growth performance, lipid deposition, antioxidant ability, and intestinal health in rice field eels. However, supplementation with 0.2% or 0.5% taurine improved growth performance, reduced lipid deposition, enhanced antioxidant ability, and maintained intestinal health. The best growth performance was observed in fish supplemented with 0.5% taurine.

Dietary taurine improved growth performance, nutrient utilization, and antioxidant enzyme activities in pangasius Pangasianodon hypophthalmus

Nikhila Peter et al.

Summary: This study showed that feeding Pangasianodon hypophthalmus fry with taurine up to 15 g/kg feed significantly improved weight, weight gain, specific growth rate, and protein efficiency ratio. Beyond 15 g/kg feed, these parameters plateaued. Fish fed with 25 g/kg feed of taurine exhibited higher antioxidant enzyme activity. The optimum dietary taurine content for P. hypophthalmus fry feed was estimated to be 15.05-16.31 g/kg feed.

Intervention of taurine on fatty acid profiles, oxidative injury and autophagy status in the muscle of rice field eel (Monopterus albus) fed oxidized fish oil

Minglang Cai et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of taurine on fatty acid composition, oxidative stress, and autophagy status in the muscle of rice field eel subjected to oxidized fish oil feed. The results show that dietary taurine can improve muscle nutritional composition, oxidative stress, and autophagy status induced by oxidized fish oil, leading to greater muscle quality.

Soybean glycinin disrupted intestinal structural integrity related to aggravation of apoptosis and downregulated transcription of tight junction proteins in the intestine of juvenile grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

Ya-Lin Zhang et al.

Summary: Glycinin, a major anti-nutritional factor of soybean, impairs intestinal structural integrity in grass carp, leading to changes in apoptosis signaling and tight junctions.

Effects of dietary glycinin on the growth performance, immunity, hepatopancreas and intestinal health of juvenile Rhynchocypris lagowskii Dybowski

Rui Zhu et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the effects of glycinin on juvenile Rhynchocypris lagowskii Dybowski, showing that high concentrations of glycinin can reduce growth performance, digestive enzyme activity, immune function, and antioxidant capacity, while damaging the morphology of the hepatopancreas and intestine.

Dietary taurine modulates hepatic oxidative status, ER stress and inflammation in juvenile turbot (Scophthalmus maximus L.) fed high carbohydrate diets

Yue Zhang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the benefits of taurine against oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and inflammation induced by high carbohydrate diet in turbot. Results showed that appropriate taurine supplementation improved antioxidative status and reduced inflammation and ER stress. The optimal dietary taurine content was estimated to be 1.40% based on growth rate analysis. Taurine supplementation attenuated liver inflammation and modulated protein levels related to oxidative stress and inflammation processes induced by high carbohydrate diet.

Yong Shi et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that taurine has a protective effect against oxidative stress and intestinal damage caused by oxidized fish oil. The addition of taurine can enhance growth and antioxidant ability, reduce lipid deposition, and improve intestinal health in Ictalurus punctatus.

Rui Zhu et al.

Summary: The study indicated that soybean meal could partially replace fish meal in juvenile R. lagowskii diets, with an optimal replacement ratio. However, high levels of soybean meal substitution had negative effects on the growth and digestion of juvenile R. lagowskii.
