Yeast Selenium Exerts an Antioxidant Effect by Regulating the Level of Selenoprotein to Antagonize Cd-Induced Pyroptosis of Chicken Liver

Pengcheng Xing et al.

Summary: Cadmium exposure induces oxidative stress in the chicken liver, leading to downregulation of selenoprotein expression and upregulation of pyroptosis-related genes. However, combined exposure to yeast selenium restores antioxidant levels and selenoprotein expression, reducing liver pyroptosis. This study suggests that selenium yeast exerts an antioxidant effect by increasing selenoprotein expression and counteracting Cd-induced liver pyroptosis, providing new insights for heavy metal toxicology research with potential implications for future studies on the role of selenoproteins.

The Role of PTEN/PI3K/AKT Signaling Pathway in Apoptosis of Liver Cells in Cocks with Manganese Toxicity

Liu Xiaofei et al.

Summary: The study found that exposure to excess manganese can induce apoptosis in cock liver cells, with the PTEN/PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and HSPs playing a role in the process. Additionally, the results suggest that apoptosis caused by manganese poisoning in cock liver cells is dose-dependent.

Albicanol inhibits the toxicity of profenofos to grass carp hepatocytes cells through the ROS/PTEN/PI3K/AKT axis

Xuan lihui et al.

Summary: Profenofos (PFF) as an environmental pollutant can induce oxidative stress in hepatocytes, inhibit AKT phosphorylation, and activate mitochondrial apoptosis. Albicanol can significantly reduce the effects of PFF on grass carp hepatocytes by regulating the ROS/PTEN/PI3K/AKT pathway.

Analysis of phagocytosis by mIgM plus lymphocytes depending on monoclonal antibodies against IgM of largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides)

Jing Wu et al.

Summary: The phagocytic activity of B cells in fish has been confirmed. This study produced five monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) against largemouth bass IgM and demonstrated their ability to specifically recognize the membrane-bound IgM molecule. Flow cytometry analysis revealed the distribution of largemouth bass mIgM+ lymphocytes in different tissues. qPCR analysis showed the upregulation of various cytokines and genes related to the phagocytic signaling pathway in mIgM+ lymphocytes. These findings are important for understanding the role of mIgM+ lymphocytes in largemouth bass and the involvement of Fc gamma R in phagocytosis.

Metabolomic and Transcript Analysis Revealed a Sex-Specific Effect of Glyphosate in Zebrafish Liver

Christian Giommi et al.

Summary: Glyphosate exposure had sex-specific effects in zebrafish, with females showing disrupted purine and pyrimidine metabolism, increased stress inflammatory response, and males exhibiting impaired lysine degradation and oxidative stress response. These findings provide evidence of the adverse effects of glyphosate on hepatic metabolism and stress response in zebrafish.

The endoplasmic reticulum-mitochondrial crosstalk is involved in the mitigation mechanism of eucalyptol on imidacloprid toxicity in Ctenopharyngodon idellus kidney cells

Xiaojing Li et al.

Summary: Imidacloprid, a widely used insecticide in agriculture, poses a threat to aquatic organisms. Eucalyptol, a compound found in plants, has a protective effect against imidacloprid-induced cell damage and dysimmunity by restoring endoplasmic reticulum stress and mitochondrial balance. These findings provide insights into the biological threat posed by imidacloprid exposure to fish and the potential application of eucalyptol in aquaculture.

The decrease of selenoprotein K induced by selenium deficiency in diet improves apoptosis and cell progression block in chicken liver via the PTEN/PI3K/AKT pathway

Wenyue Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that Selenoprotein K (SELK) is crucial for the normal development of chickens, regulating various physiological functions. The deficiency of SELK in chicken liver led to apoptosis and differential expression of the PTEN/PI3K/AKT pathway, calcium homeostasis, endoplasmic reticulum health, and cell cycle progression. The study also showed that adding selenium to the diet can alleviate the deficiency.

Oxidative stress mediated by the TLR4/NOX2 signalling axis is involved in polystyrene microplastic-induced uterine fibrosis in mice?

Hao Wu et al.

Summary: Microplastics can induce uterine fibrosis in female mice by triggering oxidative stress and activating the Notch and TGF-f3 signaling pathways through the TLR4/NOX2 signaling axis. Inhibition of the TLR4/NOX2 signaling pathway can reduce the expression of fibrotic genes, suggesting it as a potential therapeutic option to alleviate the reproductive toxicity of microplastics.
