The impact of zinc and folic acid supplementation on sperm DNA methylation: results from the folic acid and zinc supplementation randomized clinical trial (FAZST)

Tim Jenkins et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the impact of 6-month folic acid and zinc supplementation on sperm DNA methylation patterns, and the results showed that the supplementation did not significantly alter sperm DNA methylation. These findings are consistent with previous research indicating limited effects of this supplementation on fertility treatment outcomes.

Live birth after intrauterine insemination: is there an upper cut-off for the number of motile spermatozoa inseminated?

Lucie Delaroche et al.

Summary: The study suggests that up to 30 million motile spermatozoa can optimize the live birth rate after intrauterine insemination (IUI). Furthermore, in specific scenarios where more than 10 million motile spermatozoa are obtained, the IUI preparations should not be diluted.

Semen quality and waiting time to pregnancy explored using association mining

Jose Alejandro Romero Herrera et al.

Summary: The study found that couples with men aged 32.1 years or younger and women aged 32.9 years or younger had shorter waiting times to pregnancy. Various semen parameters, including sperm concentration, total sperm count, progressive motility, and normal morphology, were associated with waiting times to pregnancy. High female age above 32 years had a negative impact on waiting times to pregnancy that could not be compensated for by high semen parameters in men.

The Effect of Ejaculatory Abstinence Interval on Sperm Parameters and Clinical Outcome of ART. A Systematic Review of the Literature

Piotr Sokol et al.

Summary: The reference values of sperm parameters have been updated on four occasions since the publication of the WHO Laboratory Manual in 1980. Most laboratories now use the 5th edition, recommending a 2-7 day abstinence period. However, current evidence suggests that a shorter abstinence interval may lead to better sperm parameters and improved clinical outcomes in assisted reproduction.
