A hybrid artificial intelligence model to predict the color coordinates of polyester fabric dyed with madder natural dye

Morteza Vadood et al.

Summary: This study created a database by evaluating the color of polyester fabrics dyed with madder root at different dyeing conditions. Statistical analysis was conducted to analyze the relations between dyeing parameters and color coordinates, and models were established using linear regression and artificial neural network (ANN). The results showed that ANN with two, one, and two hidden layers accurately predicted the color coordinates. Additionally, a multi-objective optimization method was used to determine the dyeing parameters for achieving the desired color, and the proposed method demonstrated high efficiency in comparison with the actual dyeing parameters.

Towards a mass customization in the fashion industry: An evolutionary decision aid model for apparel product platform design and optimization

Francesco Longo et al.

Summary: The study proposes a two-stage platform-based design process to support apparel brands in implementing mass customization strategies. This approach involves analyzing anthropometric data and business considerations to determine the characteristics of a product family, and developing a decision aid model for optimal trade-offs based on customer demand and satisfaction. The integration of scale-based platform design with ergonomic, production, inventory, and sales considerations paves the way for new business models and transforms the fashion industry into a technology and knowledge-intensive sector.

Condition-CNN: A hierarchical multi-label fashion image classification model

Brendan Kolisnik et al.

Summary: We propose a hierarchical image classification model, Condition-CNN, which improves prediction accuracy and reduces training time by using the Teacher Forcing training algorithm and conditional probabilities. The validation results show that Condition-CNN achieves higher prediction accuracy for Level 1, 2, and 3 classes compared to other baseline CNN models.

Semi-Supervised Visual Representation Learning for Fashion Compatibility

Ambareesh Revanur et al.

Summary: This research proposes a semi-supervised learning approach that leverages a large unlabeled fashion corpus to dynamically generate pseudo-outfits during training and introduces consistency regularization to ensure image representation consistency. The experiments show that this method performs on-par with completely supervised methods in terms of performance.

Compatibility-aware Heterogeneous Visual Search

Rahul Duggal et al.

Summary: This paper addresses the problem of visual search under resource constraints by proposing the use of different sized models to compute representations for query and gallery images to mitigate the trade-off between accuracy and efficiency. Through compatibility-aware neural architecture search (CMP-NAS), significant cost reductions can be achieved while maintaining accuracy.

Personalized Outfit Recommendation with Learnable Anchors

Zhi Lu et al.

Summary: There has been a surge of interest in the fashion recommendation problem in the multimedia community recently. Many efforts have been made to model the compatibility between fashion items and users' personal preferences. This study proposes a new solution for personalized outfit recommendation by using a stacked self-attention mechanism to model high-order interactions among items and characterizing each user with a set of anchors to represent their outfit preferences.
