Electrically controlled drug release of donepezil and BiFeO3 magnetic nanoparticle-loaded PVA microbubbles/nanoparticles for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease

Sumeyye Cesur et al.

Summary: Nanocarriers are used to deliver bioactive substances in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, polymeric nanoparticles were manufactured with bursting microbubbles by a T-junction device, loaded with BiFeO3 magnetic nanoparticles and DO. The release of DO can be electrically controlled in the presence of BiFeO3, providing a potential method for AD treatment.

Carboxymethyl Cellulose Entrapped in a Poly(vinyl) Alcohol Network: Plant-Based Scaffolds for Cartilage Tissue Engineering

Jirapat Namkaew et al.

Summary: Cartilage has limited self-healing capacity after injury, but tissue engineering in conjunction with biomaterials shows promise for generating cartilage substitutes. This study explores how the incorporation of CMC and crosslinking density affect scaffold properties and potential cartilage formation support. The results suggest that PVA/CMC scaffolding material can be tailored to support cartilage formation.

Fabrication of tissue-engineered tympanic membrane patches using 3D-Printing technology

Elif Ilhan et al.

Summary: In this research, 3D printed patches for treating tympanic membrane perforations were produced using a combination of PLA, Chitosan, and Sodium Alginate. By adding different ratios of Chitosan and Sodium Alginate to PLA, the biocompatibility of the produced scaffolds was increased. Among all concentrations tested, groups containing 3 wt% Chitosan and 3 wt% Sodium Alginate showed significantly superior printing quality. This study suggests that PLA/Chitosan and PLA/Sodium Alginate 3D printed artificial patches have the potential to provide tissue engineering solutions for repairing tympanic membrane perforations in individuals with hearing loss.
