Cyclometallated Iron(II) Alkoxides in Iron-Catalyzed C-H Activations by Weak O-Carbonyl Chelation

Antonis M. Messinis et al.

Summary: A detailed investigation of the C-H activation mechanism with an iron catalyst reveals an unexpected iron(II) alkoxide intermediate, which exhibits higher catalytic activity than previously reported species. Mechanistic studies provide evidence for an oxidative addition reaction and propose the isolated iron(II) alkoxide as a highly reactive precatalyst. These insights form the basis for further developments in iron-catalyzed C-H activation and stereoselective transformations.

Rhodium-Catalyzed Regio- and Diastereoselective Hydroarylation of Allenes: An Unprecedented Ene Reaction

Helya J. Ghazvini et al.

Summary: An innovative method for the selective formation of Z-vinyl-functionalized oxazoles via a rhodium-catalyzed nucleophilic addition of alpha-acidic isocyanoacetamides to allenes is described. By employing diverse isocyanoacetamides and allenes, a library of vinyl oxazoles can be efficiently synthesized in a stereo- and regiospecific manner. Mechanistic investigations reveal that the reaction proceeds through a concise rhodium-catalyzed ene reaction followed by reductive elimination.

Ligand-Regulated Palladium-Catalyzed Regiodivergent Hydroarylation of the Distal Double Bond of Allenamides with Aryl Boronic Acid

Xin Du et al.

Summary: The ligand-regulated regiodivergent hydroarylation of the distal double bond of allenamides with aryl boronic acid was achieved in the presence of palladium(II) catalysts, leading to the formation of various functionalized enamide with excellent E selectivity and Markovnikov/antiMarkovnikov selectivity.Coordination intermediates play a crucial role in determining the selectivity of the reaction, with different intermediates leading to different regioselectivities and product distributions.

Cu-Catalyzed C-H Allylation of Benzimidazoles with Allenes

Yaxi Dong et al.

Summary: The CuH-catalyzed intramolecular cyclization and intermolecular allylation of benzimidazoles with allenes proceed smoothly under the catalytic system of Cu(OAc)(2)/Xantphos and catalytic amount of (MeO)(2)MeSiH, featuring mild reaction conditions and good tolerance of substrates with different functional groups. A new catalytic mechanism was proposed for this copper hydride catalytic system.
