Neonatal brain abscess development following fetal scalp electrode placement: a rare complication

T. Fick et al.

Summary: Fetal scalp electrode (FSE) is commonly used during labor but can lead to complications. One patient developed a large brain abscess after initial infection due to an FSE, which was only noticed after an asymmetric growth of the skull. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial for optimal outcomes.

The association between uterine contraction frequency and fetal scalp pH in women with suspicious or pathological fetal heart rate tracings: A retrospective study

M. W. E. Frenken et al.

Summary: This study found a significant association between uterine contraction frequency and fetal scalp pH values. A contraction frequency above four per ten minutes was significantly associated with fetal hypoxia in women with abnormal fetal heart rate. It is suggested to aim for a maximum contraction frequency of four per ten minutes in these women.

Internal fetal and uterine monitoring in obese patients and maternal obstetrical outcomes

Antonina I. Frolova et al.

Summary: The study investigated the association between the use of internal monitors and maternal infectious morbidity among women with obesity, finding that internal monitor use was associated with an increased risk for infectious morbidity but with a weaker association in obese women. Additionally, the incidence of cesarean delivery was significantly higher among women who had internal monitors placed during labor.
