Effects of dietary omega-3 fatty acids on orthotopic prostate cancer progression, tumor associated macrophages, angiogenesis and T-cell activation-dependence on GPR120

Pei Liang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether dietary omega-3 fatty acids (FAs) inhibit angiogenesis and activate T-cells, and whether these effects are dependent on G-protein coupled receptor 120 (GPR120). The results showed that omega-3 FAs delayed tumor growth, inhibited M2-like macrophage infiltration and angiogenesis, and reversed M2-like macrophage-induced T-cell suppression, and these effects were mediated, in part, by macrophage GPR120.

Dextran-modified Quercetin-Cu(II)/hyaluronic acid nanomedicine with natural poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor and dual targeting for programmed synthetic lethal therapy in triple-negative breast cancer

Hung-Wei Cheng et al.

Summary: Precision cancer nanomedicine based on natural therapeutic materials has been developed to tackle serious side effects from chemotherapies. A novel nanomedicine, CuQDA/IO@HA, composed of hyaluronic acid (HA) / copper ion (Cu(II))-chelated dextran-aldehyde (DA)-quercetin (Q) with dual targeting for synthetic lethal therapy, has shown promising results in specifically targeting and inducing cytotoxicity in BRCA-mutant cancer cells.

Emerging nanotaxanes for cancer therapy

Yachao Zhang et al.

Summary: The clinical application of taxane-based formulations faces challenges such as off-target distribution, unsatisfactory release, and resistance/metastasis. However, recent advances in nanotaxanes and nano-DDSs have shown promise in targeted delivery and combating tumor resistance and metastasis through synergistic therapy strategies. Further research on oral nanotaxanes is also being explored for potential benefits.

Docetaxel Skin Exposure and Micronucleation Contributes to Skin Toxicity Caused by CPC634

Florence Atrafi et al.

Summary: CPC634, a nanoparticle entrapping docetaxel, and conventional docetaxel both result in skin toxicity through anti-mitotic effects such as micronucleation, which can lead to inflammatory reactions. The total docetaxel concentration in the skin was significantly higher after CPC634 administration compared to conventional docetaxel, while the released docetaxel concentrations were not statistically different.Histopathological examination revealed increased apoptosis, mitotic cells with nuclear atypia, and micronucleation with an enhanced Ki-67 index for both compounds.
