The synthesis and structures of two base-free alkoxide dysprosium(III) complexes are reported, and the magnetic properties of one of the complexes are investigated, revealing the occurrence of a field-induced slow relaxation of the magnetization.
We report the synthesis and structures of two base-free alkoxide dysprosium(III) complexes of formula [Dy(L-1)(2) (mu-eta(6):eta(1)-Ph)(2)BPh2]center dot CH2Cl2 (1) and [Dy(L-2)(2)(mu-eta(6):eta(1)-Ph)(2)BPh2]center dot 3(C7H8) (2) featuring a tetraphenylborate binding (L-1-2,6-dibenzhydryl-4-(tert-butyl)phenolate, L-2-tri(naphtalen-1-yl)methanolate). Investigations of the magnetic properties for 1 in line with theoretical calculations reveal the occurrence of a field-induced slow relaxation of the magnetization.
