Adsorption of cobalt by using inorganic components of sediment samples from water bodies

Rocio Montes de Oca-Palma et al.

Summary: The adsorption properties of cobalt ions on sediment samples from water bodies were investigated, revealing that the composition of sediments plays a significant role in their adsorption capacities. S1 showed higher removal efficiency and adsorption capacity for cobalt compared to S2, indicating the important adsorption properties of sediments for cobalt.

Oxalated blast-furnace slag for the removal of Cobalt(II) ions from aqueous solutions

Quynh Thi Ngoc Le et al.

Summary: This study converted an original blast-furnace slag, an industrial waste material, into Slag-Oxalate to capture Co2+. The obtained material showed a high adsorption capacity and fast adsorption rate, with ion exchange being the main mechanism. Additionally, Slag-Ox was able to remove Cs+ and Sr2+ ions from multi-metal aqueous solutions, indicating its potential for remediating contaminated waters.

Performance Evaluation of Fixed Bed Column Packed with Ionic Liquid Impregnated Silica for Separation of Gadolinium and Neodymium from Aqueous Solutions

H. A. Ibrahim et al.

Summary: The application of fixed bed column for separation of gadolinium and neodymium ions from their aqueous solutions using Cyphos IL-104 impregnated silica was investigated. The breakthrough time was found to decrease with increasing flow rate and initial concentration, while the column capacity increased with greater bed depth.

Efficient adsorptive removal of Cobalt(II) ions from water by dicalcium phosphate dihydrate

Eleazer L. Vivas et al.

Summary: This study investigated the batch adsorption performance of dicalcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD) as a potential cobalt adsorbent. Stable cobalt uptake was observed at pH 4-8, with the structure analysis revealing decomposition of DCPD during adsorption and involvement of multiple mechanisms in the process. Additionally, intraparticle diffusion contributed to the overall removal kinetics of Co2+ from water.

Cobalt(II) removal from aqueous solution by modified polymeric adsorbents prepared with induced-graft polymerization: Batch and continuous column study with analysis of breakthrough behaviors

Fatemeh Maleki et al.

Summary: The radiation grafting polymer adsorbent exhibited high removal efficiency for cobalt ions, following pseudo-second-order and Langmuir models. The maximum adsorption of fabric adsorbent under dynamic adsorption test occurred at specific experimental conditions, and the grafting degree was found to be an important parameter in continuous studies.
