Probing PAH formation chemical kinetics from benzene and toluene pyrolysis in a single-pulse shock tube *

Wenyu Sun et al.

Summary: This study investigated the pyrolysis of benzene and toluene under highly diluted argon conditions using GC/GC-MS diagnostics. Different behaviors in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon formation were observed in the two reaction systems, with benzene and toluene showing distinct pathways and species. The fuel-specific pathways had pronounced effects on PAH speciation, especially at lower temperatures, where fuel depletion was incomplete.

Experimental and theoretical evidence for the temperature-determined evolution of PAH functional groups

Peng Liu et al.

Summary: The study investigates the chemical evolution of various functional groups in PAH and soot, revealing their sensitivity to temperature and different reaction pathways at different temperatures. Kinetic modeling and experimental data interpretation suggest a qualitative description of the formation of OPAH with the C-O-C functional group through the HACA-like pathway, while the evolution of PAH with different functional groups is captured through different reactions involving PAH radicals and C2H4/C2H3.

Effect of the stagnation plate on PAHs, soot and OH distributions in partially premixed laminar flames fueled with a blend of n-heptane and toluene

Lei Feng et al.

Summary: The study found that the spatial distributions of PAHs, soot, and OH are influenced by plate height and temperature in a surrogate fuel flame. PAHs and soot are more affected by plate height and temperature, while OH is more affected by monotonic changes in plate height and temperature.

A one-year monitoring of spatiotemporal variations of PM2.5-bound PAHs in Tehran, Iran: Source apportionment, local and regional sources origins and source-specific cancer risk assessment

Mohammad Saleh Ali-Taleshi et al.

Summary: A study in Tehran, Iran analyzed PM2.5-bound PAHs from daily samples collected at three urban sites over four seasons. Results showed seasonal variations in PAH concentrations, with different sources identified including diesel exhaust and gasoline exhaust. The study also assessed the cancer risk associated with PAH exposure.

The effect of motorcycle tyre rolling resistance coefficient on the saving of fuel consumption

Kengkamon Wiratkasem et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of motorcycle tyre rolling resistance coefficient on fuel consumption. The results showed that higher rolling resistance coefficient tyres led to increased fuel consumption. By reducing the rolling resistance coefficient, significant fuel savings can be achieved, with a potential saving of 16.6 million litres per year in Thailand with a coefficient of 12.0.

IC Engine emission reduction using catalytic converter by replacing the noble catalyst and using copper oxide as the catalyst

R. Manojkumar et al.

Summary: The study aims to reduce the toxic gas emissions from diesel engines by using cost-effective alternative catalysts. Different types of exhaust systems, including reduction, oxidation, and three-way catalytic converters, are utilized to enhance the control efficiency of emissions by employing various catalysts.
