Factors influencing stress, anxiety, and depression among Iranian pregnant women: the role of sexual distress and genital self-image

Afsaneh Keramat et al.

Summary: Pregnancy is a unique period associated with increased likelihood of psychological changes and emotional disturbances, such as depression, anxiety, and stress. Factors influencing depression, anxiety, and stress in pregnancy were investigated in this study, with a positive correlation found between Sexual Distress (SD) and severity of depression, anxiety, and stress, and a negative correlation between Genital Self-Image (GSI) and severity of depression and anxiety. Raising awareness about SD and GSI through screening and counseling sessions can have beneficial effects for mothers and their fetuses.

Experiences of women seeking post-abortion care services in a Regional Hospital in Ghana

Kenneth Setorwu Adde et al.

Summary: The study found that medical abortion was the main method of pregnancy termination used by women in Ghana, while spontaneous abortion was mainly attributed to activities that required excessive energy. Women's reluctance to seek early post-abortion care services was mainly due to stigma and poverty.

Ovarian Toxicity and Epigenetic Mechanisms of Phthalates and Their Metabolites

Hua-hua Jiang et al.

Summary: The ovary is essential to the female reproductive system, with its function being influenced by various factors. Environmental pollutants like phthalates pose a significant threat to public health and require attention. It is urgent to study the role of epigenetics in reproductive toxicology, including methylation, gene imprinting, miRNA, and other mechanisms.

Transcriptomic responses predict the toxic effect of parental co-exposure to dibutyl phthalate and diisobutyl phthalate on the early development of zebrafish offspring

Hui Chen et al.

Summary: This study assessed the effects of DBP and DiBP on early development of zebrafish offspring, showing that parental exposure to these chemicals can lead to increased hatchability and prevalence of malformations in F1 larvae. Transcriptomic analysis revealed different molecular mechanisms of parental co-exposure compared to exposure to individual chemicals.

Single-cell transcriptome dissection of the toxic impact of Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate on primordial follicle assembly

Jun-Jie Wang et al.

Summary: This study used single-cell RNA sequencing to reveal the gene expression dynamics of female germ and granulosa cells following DEHP exposure in mice. DEHP was found to impede follicle assembly progression in germ cells, inhibit proliferative activity in granulosa cells, disrupt transforming growth factor-beta signaling, and elevate DNA damage and apoptosis in both germ and somatic cells. These findings provide new insights into the reproductive toxicity of DEHP exposure and its impact on ovarian cell interactions.
