Adsorption performance and mechanism of Ca-Al-LDHs prepared by oyster shell and pop can for phosphate from aqueous solutions

Shangkai Qiu et al.

Summary: The anion exchange properties of layered composite metal hydroxide (LDHs) make it an important material for anion purification in aquatic environments. In this study, waste oyster shells and cans were used to prepare LDHs, and their adsorption capacities for phosphate were compared with LDHs prepared from chemical reagents. The results showed that both the waste group and reagent group materials exhibited similar adsorption capacities. The effects of adsorbent dosage, initial solution pH, and presence of coexisting ions on the adsorption capacity were investigated.
