Residential proximity to greenness and adverse birth outcomes in urban areas: Findings from a national Canadian population-based study

Paul J. Villeneuve et al.

Summary: The study found that residing in greener areas was associated with a lower risk of low birth weight, preterm birth, and babies born small for gestational age. These associations remained even after adjusting for exposure to air pollution. Furthermore, an increase in greenness was linked to higher birth weights and the benefits of proximity to green spaces were consistent across all socioeconomic statuses.

Residential greenness and birth outcomes: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies

Cheng-Yang Hu et al.

Summary: The study found a potential positive association between residential greenness and several birth outcomes. However, further research is needed to replicate these findings and explore their implications in more detail, given the moderate to high between-study heterogeneity.
