Exposure to polychlorinated biphenyls and organochlorine pesticides and thyroid cancer in connecticut women

Nicole C. Deziel et al.

Summary: The study did not find a clear association between PCB or OCP exposure and PTC using single and multi-pollutant modeling. However, some associations were found in individuals born during peak production, suggesting further investigation into early-life exposures and subsequent thyroid cancer risk may be warranted.

Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals and Thyroid Cancer: An Overview

Mathilda Alsen et al.

Summary: Exposure to certain flame retardants, PCBs, phthalates, and pesticides may potentially increase the risk of thyroid cancer according to existing literature, but more research is urgently needed to evaluate the carcinogenic effects of different EDCs on the thyroid gland in humans.

Thyroid cancer incidence trends by histology in 25 countries: a population-based study

Adalberto Miranda-Filho et al.

Summary: This study analyzed international trends of thyroid cancer incidence by major histological subtypes based on data collected by IARC from 1998 to 2012. The results showed that papillary thyroid cancer was the main contributor and the only subtype that systematically increased in all countries, with large variability between countries.
