Mind the Quality Gap When Banking on Dry Blood Spots

David Carpentieri et al.

Summary: Dry blood spots (DBS) offer advantages in terms of time, equipment, processing, storage, and shipment, especially for pediatric samples, and are commonly used in mass spectrometry-based inborn errors of metabolism screening programs. However, guidelines may not be applicable for all analytes and protocols, leading to new insights in DBS biobanking for pediatric and OMIC platforms.
