Out-of-plane effect on the sharp V-notch tip fields in power-law creeping solids: A three-dimensional asymptotic analysis

Weichen Kong et al.

Summary: This paper presents an asymptotic solution for 3D sharp V-notched structures subjected to mode I creep loading condition, and finds that the singular behavior is related to the notch angle, material creeping exponents, and the out-of-plane constraint factor. The K-N (t) -T-z solution is introduced to describe the mode I stress field around the tip of 3D V-notch under creep condition, with its accuracy and advantages validated by finite element analysis. The solutions provided in this paper could aid in understanding the 3D effect on notch under creep loading conditions.

A time-dependent stress and strain estimation method for notched components under displacement-controlled condition

Cheng Gong et al.

Summary: A modified Neuber's method has been proposed to accurately evaluate the creep responses of notched components under displacement-controlled conditions. The study verified the applicability of this method to notched plates with different geometrical configurations, showing more accurate stress and strain predictions compared to the general Neuber's rule.

On the second order term asymptotic solution for sharp V-notch tip field in elasto-viscoplastic solids

Yanwei Dai et al.

Summary: A two-order asymptotic solution has been developed for sharp V-notch tip mechanics field in elasto-viscoplastic solids under mode I loading, providing a more accurate estimation for stress distribution compared to one-order solution, especially for cases with small notch opening angles. The one-order term solution is sufficient to characterize the stress field under most experimental conditions.

Size effect in creep-fatigue crack growth interaction in P2M steel

Valery Shlyannikov et al.

Summary: The investigation focused on crack propagation under creep-fatigue interaction in C(T) specimens of P2M steel, with numerical calculations determining stress-strain state fields and stress intensity factors at the crack front. The experimental results were interpreted using traditional and new cyclic fracture diagrams, showing differences in crack growth behavior under creep-dominated stress intensity factors. The crack growth rate increased monotonically in specimens with the same geometry under creep-fatigue interaction compared to harmonic fatigue, indicating a significant increase in total crack growth rate when fatigue and creep contributions are combined.
