Comparison of evaporation rate constants of a single fuel droplet entering subcritical and supercritical environments

Dehao Ju et al.

Summary: This study compares the evaporation rate constants of a single fuel droplet under subcritical and supercritical environments using experimental visualizations and molecular dynamics simulations. The results reveal that the evaporation rate constant varies in subcritical and supercritical environments, with the latter showing an increasing trend with evaporation time. Molecular dynamics simulations demonstrate that in supercritical environments, the droplet temperature keeps increasing and the droplet surface tension rapidly vanishes, indicating a shift in dominant factors affecting fuel-air mixture formation.

Experimental study on the phase inhomogeneity and separability in supercritical state of acetone fuel

Zhenhong Wei et al.

Summary: In this paper, the phase inhomogeneity and separability in the supercritical state of fossil fuels are studied by using high-speed Mie scattering and UV LAS optical diagnostic techniques. The results show that acetone is inhomogeneous in the supercritical state and can be further divided into liquid-like phase and gas-like phase. The transition region between the liquid-like phase and gas-like phase contains thermodynamic extremum lines, which supports the view that the widom line is used as the crossover in the supercritical state.

Controlling parameters and regimes for preferential vaporization of jet fuel droplet with liquid transport and convection

Lei Luo et al.

Summary: This study used numerical simulations to investigate the preferential vaporization of jet fuel droplets. The results show that the preferential vaporization is determined by the combined action of droplet vaporization rate and liquid transport, and is influenced by environmental factors.

A molecular dynamics study of binary-component n-alkane fuel vaporization characteristics at sub/supercritical nitrogen environments

Yanzhi Zhang et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the gas-liquid interface characteristics and phase transition behavior of binary-component n alkane fuels in sub/supercritical nitrogen environments. Molecular dynamics simulation was used to analyze the vapor-liquid equilibrium assumption and transition mechanism from VLE to non-VLE. The results show that the vaporization behavior of binary-component fuels varies in different environments, with different roles played by the light-end and heavy-end components.

Atomic-level insights into transition mechanism of dominant mixing modes of multi-component fuel droplets: From evaporation to diffusion

Yifei Gong et al.

Summary: This study used molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the evaporation processes of a six-component hydrocarbon fuel under supercritical conditions. The results showed that the transition characteristics of the mixed fuel were not a linearly weighted average of the physical properties of individual components, and diffusion has a temperature limitation under high pressures.

Phase transitions of multi-component fuel droplets under sub- and supercritical conditions

Yifei Gong et al.

Summary: This study investigated the phase transition processes of different hydrocarbon mixtures under supercritical conditions, proposing a new criterion for determining the transition of mixing modes. The results showed that ambient pressure and temperature significantly influenced the dominant mixing mode transition.

Droplet evaporation and phase transition modes in supercritical environment by molecular dynamic simulation

Zhanyuan Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the phase change process of dodecane droplets surrounded by supercritical nitrogen through molecular dynamic simulation, revealing distinct features compared to subcritical evaporation. Under supercritical conditions, the droplets experience a dramatic increase in radius with significant fluctuations, rendering traditional theories invalid.
