Optimal Dispatch in a Balancing Market With Intermittent Renewable Generation

Priyanka Shinde et al.

Summary: Three single-stage stochastic programs for optimal dispatch by a System Operator into balancing markets are proposed and compared, considering both fuel cost and intermittency cost. The single imbalance pricing model is found to be the most market efficient after comparative analysis.

From Systematic Risk to Systemic Risk: Analysis Over Day-Ahead Market Operation Under High Renewable Penetration by CoVaR and Marginal CoVaR

Qiwei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study proposes two systemic risk measures, CoVaR and Delta CoVaR, for analyzing energy markets with high renewable penetrations. A new index, normalized Delta CoVaR, is established to evaluate the impact on Delta CoVaR per MW by market operators, along with two approaches suggested for managing systemic risk in a day-ahead market. These risk measures and management methods are then applied to analyze a day-ahead market with over 30% renewable energy penetration in a modified IEEE 118-bus system.
