Theoretical modeling and optimal matching on the damping property of mechatronic shock absorber with low speed and heavy load capacity

Dong Guan et al.

Summary: This paper designs a mechatronic shock absorber based on a ball screw pair, which can produce a large damping force under the same working conditions. The dynamic model of the mechatronic shock absorber is established, and the damping force is divided into inertial, electromagnetic, and mechanical damping forces. The global sensitivity analysis method, Sobol based on variance, is used to analyze the sensitivity of various parameters. The results show that the load resistance has the greatest impact on the equivalent damping coefficient. The optimal range of load resistance under different structural parameters is proposed for vehicle ride comfort. Experimental tests are conducted to validate the dynamic model. This work provides a theoretical basis for guiding the future design of mechatronic shock absorbers.

Damping Studies on PMLG-Based Wave Energy Converter under Oceanic Wave Climates

Yue Hong et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of different wave conditions on the dynamics of wave energy converters (WECs), determined the optimal damping coefficient, and found that only a few optimal damping coefficients could contribute over 90% of the WEC's annual energy production. The comparison between optimal and constant damping suggested that, for specific regions, constant damping might be a better choice for WECs to optimize long-term energy production.

Modeling and Analysis of the Power Conditioning Circuit for an Electromagnetic Human Walking-Induced Energy Harvester

Ludwin Molina Arias et al.

Summary: A system for harvesting energy from lower limb joints during walking is modeled and simulated in this work, with consideration given to the hip, knee, and ankle joints as energy sources. The maximum power generated by the energy harvester ranges from 1.4 mW (ankle joint) to 90 mW (knee joint) based on simulations with a constant walking speed of 4.5 km/h. The interaction between the electromagnetic structure and the power conditioning circuit is studied using state-space representation and Recurrence plots.
