A Matrix-Inversion-Free Fixed-Point Method for Distributed Power Flow Analysis

Kishan Prudhvi Guddanti et al.

Summary: This article introduces the fundamental problem of power flow (PF) in power system engineering and the challenges faced by popular solvers. To address the limitations of existing methods, a distributed fixed point (FP) equation is proposed to compute the voltage at each bus. Comparative analysis and empirical results show that the proposed method outperforms existing methods in solving high condition number matrices and exhibits greater robustness to bad initialization points.

Power flow solution of Ill-conditioned systems using current injection formulation: Analysis and a novel method

Marcos Tostado-Veliz et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the current injection form of the Power Flow equations and develops a novel robust PF technique. The study finds that PF equations in the current injection form tend to complicate the solution of ill-conditioned systems, but the proposed technique shows a promising balance between robustness and efficiency.

On the Power Flow Solution in AC Distribution Networks Using the Laurent's Series Expansion

Oscar Danilo Montoya et al.

Summary: This paper introduces new power flow formulations for AC distribution networks, utilizing Laurent's series expansion method in complex variables. The proposed model is faster and more efficient than conventional methods in terms of computational time and total number of iterations, with the ability to handle radial or mesh grids effectively. All simulations are conducted in MATLAB environment.

Accurate and Efficient Derivative-Free Three-Phase Power Flow Method for Unbalanced Distribution Networks

Oscar Danilo Montoya et al.

Summary: This research introduces a derivative-free numerical method based on an upper-triangular matrix to solve the power flow problem in three-phase unbalanced distribution networks, demonstrating its efficiency and computational advantages. The Banach fixed-point theorem is utilized to ensure the convergence of the method with Y-connected loads. Additionally, the application of the Chu-Beasley genetic algorithm and leader-follower optimization approach efficiently addresses phase balancing problems with optimal solutions and quick processing times.
