Expression characteristics and interaction networks of microRNAs in spleen tissues of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

Yinli Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, the miRNA expression profiles and interaction networks related to the postnatal late development of spleen tissue in grass carp were investigated. The results revealed consistent expression patterns of miRNAs in the spleen of one-year-old and three-year-old grass carp. Several miRNAs were found to be involved in erythrocyte differentiation, immune response, and lipid metabolism. The study also constructed miRNA-mRNA interaction networks associated with immune and hematopoietic functions, cell proliferation and differentiation, and lipid metabolism.

Mining pollution in Greenland-the lesson learned: A review of 50 years of environmental studies and monitoring

Jens Sondergaard et al.

Summary: This review provides an overview of environmental studies and monitoring at mine sites in Greenland since the early 1970s. It discusses the significant metal pollution caused by mining activities at legacy mine sites and the development of methods for environmental monitoring. The review also highlights the importance of site-specific monitoring practices and lessons learned for future monitoring programs.

Influence of perfluoroalkyl acids and other parameters on circulating thyroid hormones and immune-related microRNA expression in free-ranging nestling peregrine falcons

Jiachen Sun et al.

Summary: Exposure to certain PFAAs has significant effects on the thyroid hormone levels and immune function of nestling peregrine falcons. These effects may interact with factors such as hatching environment, age, and diet, further impacting the growth, development, and health risks of juvenile birds.

Histopathological effects of short-term aqueous exposure to environmentally relevant concentration of lead (Pb) in shorthorn sculpin (Myoxocephalus scorpius) under laboratory conditions

Khattapan Jantawongsri et al.

Summary: The study validated the effects of lead on wild shorthorn sculpin by controlled laboratory exposure, showing that lead exposure had different impacts on various organs in fish, and blood was found to be suitable for assessing lead accumulation in sculpins.
